Court to rule on NDC's objection to mandamus application on Jan 1

The Accra High Court, presided over by Justice Forson Baah Agyapong, will rule on January 1, 2025, on the National Domestic Congress’ (NDC) legal objection to a mandamus application seeking to compel the Electoral Commission (EC) to collate parliamentary results from four constituencies—Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, Techiman South, and Ablekuma North—in the December 2024 elections.

NDC's counsel, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, argued the application was an election petition in disguise and that the High Court lacked jurisdiction.

He emphasized that unresolved election disputes should follow the proper channels as outlined in the Representation of the People's Law.

Gary Nimako Marfo, counsel for the applicant, countered that the results were not gazetted, making the mandamus application valid.

The EC's lawyer, Justin Amenuvor, raised concerns over determining the validity of the election through affidavits.
