Andy Appiah-Kubi, Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, has disclosed that some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) unsuccessfully tried to persuade Alan Kyerematen to return after his departure.
NPP MPs reached out to influential figures, including Bishop Dag Heward-Mills and Anglican bishops, in hopes of convincing Kyerematen to rejoin the party.
However, he refused, even as his departure led to dissatisfaction in the Ashanti Region, contributing to the NPP’s loss in the 2024 elections.
Appiah-Kubi noted that Kyerematen’s supporters, unhappy with the outcome, likely refrained from voting, which hurt the party’s chances.
In the election, NDC’s John Dramani Mahama triumphed, while Bawumia and the NPP faced setbacks.
