Dormaa East Member of Parliament (MP) Paul Twum Berimah has rejected claims that Kennedy Agyapong, the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, is to blame for the party’s defeat in the 2024 elections.

Speaking on Oyerepa TV, Twum Berimah argued that voters considered broader issues, such as unfulfilled promises and infrastructural challenges, rather than individual actions or remarks.

While Agyapong initially doubted the party’s chances of breaking the eight-year electoral cycle, he later rallied behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate.

Twum Berimah credited Agyapong for his unwavering support during the campaign, including efforts in Dormaa East.

The NPP’s defeat saw John Dramani Mahama of the NDC declared president with 6.3 million votes, as the NDC also secured a parliamentary majority.
