EC must furnish names of presiding officers to presidential candidates – CPP

Kwame Nkrumah Botsio, General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to provide presidential candidates with the list of presiding officers for the 2024 elections.

Citing the Public Elections Regulations, 2020 (C.I. 127), Section 6 (B), Botsio explained that the EC is required to furnish political parties and candidates with these details.

While constituency branches have received the lists, Botsio emphasized that presidential candidates and parliamentary aspirants are also entitled to them.

He stressed the need for transparency, noting that the 19 million voters are primary stakeholders in the election and deserve clarity.

Botsio urged the EC to act as a neutral arbiter to build public trust and address growing suspicions about its impartiality.
