The Electoral Commission (EC) has urged the Accra High Court to allow it to complete the collation process in the Tema Central Constituency.
Represented by Justin Amenuvor, EC lawyers warned against a "dangerous precedent" where unauthorized individuals could disrupt collation centers or improperly declare election results.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by Gary Nimako, supported the motion, citing alleged intimidation that stalled the process.
They argued that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Ebi Bright, was improperly declared winner by John Nunoo, who is not the EC’s returning officer.
The NPP’s request seeks to compel the EC to finish the collation in line with constitutional provisions and declare the legitimate winner.
