Effutu Parliamentary election results challenged in court

The 2024 NDC parliamentary candidate for Effutu, James Kofi Annan, and Independent Candidate, Louisa Buabeng, have petitioned the Winneba High Court to annul the parliamentary election results, citing electoral irregularities and bias by the Electoral Commission (EC).

They lost to NPP’s Alexander Afenyo-Markin but claim the process was unfair.

Annan seeks to annul results from 96 polling stations, alleging discrepancies in agent signatures on pink sheets, while Buabeng demands the cancellation of the entire election, accusing the EC of withholding crucial information.

Their legal counsel, Jennifred Maurice Adjei, also raised concerns about interference in serving court processes, alleging that a court registrar hindered the service of documents.

The petitioners are now calling for the case to be transferred to a different High Court.
