On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the Eastern Regional Elections Security Taskforce, oversaw the destruction of defective ballot papers that were recalled by the Electoral Commission (EC).
The process, which took place at the regional dump site on Akwadum Road, was closely monitored by constituency election directors from various political parties to ensure transparency.
The special voting exercise had been suspended in the Eastern and Western regions due to the defective ballots.
However, all 31 constituencies, except for Afram Plains North and South, presented their ballots for both presidential and parliamentary elections to be destroyed.
John Appiah Baffour, the Eastern Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, expressed satisfaction with the successful process, confirming that all party representatives were present to verify the integrity of the ballots before they were destroyed.
