‘Even if you bring Jesus as EC Chair, NDC will complain’ – Hackman Owusu-Agyeman

Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, Chairman of the NPP National Council of Elders, has criticized the NDC for its persistent challenges to electoral outcomes, describing the trend as detrimental to Ghana’s democratic development.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, he lamented the opposition’s readiness to question election results, regardless of circumstances, even jokingly stating, “If you bring Jesus Christ as Electoral Commissioner, they will still complain.”

Owusu-Agyeman expressed concern that the NDC's accusations erode trust in the Electoral Commission and democracy itself. He also linked this attitude to broader dysfunctions in Parliament, urging lawmakers to prioritize the people’s interests.

Reflecting on Ghana’s political challenges, the former UN official shared his frustrations, calling for stronger efforts to build on the nation’s progress and gain global respect.
