Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a prominent New Patriotic Party (NPP) member and cousin of outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has extended his congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following their 2024 election victory.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) after NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s concession speech, Otchere-Darko lauded Ghana’s democratic resilience.
“Congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress for an emphatic victory. The people have spoken. Democracy lives. Let Ghana be the ultimate winner,” he wrote.
Otchere-Darko’s remarks have been interpreted as a call for unity, urging Ghanaians to prioritize national progress after the closely contested elections.
His message echoes Dr. Bawumia’s concession, where the former Vice President called on NPP supporters to respect the will of the people and focus on Ghana’s future.
The acknowledgment highlights the spirit of political maturity as Ghana transitions to new leadership under Mahama and the NDC.
