The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has rejected calls by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the prosecution of Electoral Commission (EC) officer Joseph Dery, arrested in Kintampo South for alleged electoral misconduct.
Dery is accused of issuing ballot papers without Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s photo, sparking outrage among NPP supporters.
The NPP has demanded his immediate prosecution, claiming the act was intended to manipulate the election results.
The NDC, however, dismissed the allegations as baseless and diversionary.
Party spokesperson Sammy Gyamfi argued that the NPP’s accusations were tactics to distract from their anticipated defeat, blaming the EC rather than the NDC for the incident.
