#GhanaPolls2024: We have no hand in military deployment – EC

Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), has clarified that the EC is not involved in the deployment of military personnel or any security arrangements for the elections.

Her statement comes after the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) announced the deployment of military personnel to designated areas for election security, but emphasized that no military officers would be stationed at polling stations.

During a press update on December 7, Mensa reiterated that the EC has no role in security planning, aiming to clarify the separate responsibilities of the EC and security agencies in the election process.
