Lydia Alhassan, MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has refuted claims of distributing food and water to voters during the special voting exercise at Legon Police Station.
Videos and reports alleged her involvement in handing out items, which sparked agitation at the polling center.
In an interview, the MP stated, “I wasn’t even at the polling station when this reportedly happened. I came early and left shortly after.”
Eyewitnesses, including journalists, contradicted her account, stating that individuals linked to her distributed the items.
Opposition candidate John Dumelo criticized the act, calling it a breach of electoral rules and questioning its intent.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor has launched an investigation, while the Electoral Commission is yet to address the issue.
Election observers emphasized strict adherence to fair election practices.
