Justin Frimpong Kodua, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged Muslims to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to become Ghana’s first Muslim president.
Speaking in Challu during a campaign tour, he highlighted that since independence, Ghana has only been governed by Christians, calling this year’s election a historic opportunity for inclusion.
“This is the time for a Muslim to lead Ghana,” Kodua said, emphasizing unity and the NPP's commitment to diversity by electing Bawumia as their flagbearer. He appealed to Muslim voters to seize this chance, arguing it might take decades to re-emerge.
Kodua added that a Bawumia presidency would bring stability and progress, contrasting it with John Mahama’s limited eligibility for a single term.
He encouraged cross-party Muslim support, citing Nigeria’s balanced leadership model as an example for Ghana.
