Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, former Majority Leader, has attributed the potential defeat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 presidential election to the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.
Speaking on Abusua FM, he admitted that the NPP expected a tough battle, especially given Ghana's historic electoral cycle.
Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu emphasized the global challenges that severely impacted the country’s economy, noting that despite the NPP's successful management of the pandemic, the subsequent economic hardships weighed heavily on voters.
He conceded that the economic struggles would be a significant factor in the party's performance during the 2024 elections.
