Former President John Dramani Mahama has accused Ghana's Electoral Commission (EC) of aiding the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in a scheme to manipulate the December 7 elections.
In a Facebook post just hours before polls open, the NDC’s 2024 presidential candidate alleged the EC is undermining election integrity but expressed confidence in Ghanaians voting for change.
Mahama claimed the NDC uncovered cases of exposed validating stamps, enabling the use of fake ballots by the ruling party. Despite reporting the issue, the EC has allegedly failed to issue directives to prevent such disclosures.
Citing an internal EC memo, Mahama warned of a plot to compromise election credibility and urged intervention by peace councils, civil society, and international observers.
His claims add to mounting tensions as stakeholders demand electoral transparency.
