The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and John Mahama's resounding victory in the December 7 elections has reshaped Ghana's political landscape.
Shamima Muslim, spokesperson for the NDC’s Gender and Social Protection manifesto committee, described Mahama’s win as a Christmas gift, highlighting his humility and commitment to restoring confidence in Ghana's economy.
She emphasized that despite Mahama’s commanding majority in Parliament, his leadership would ensure accountability and not lead to abuse of power.
Muslim acknowledged the challenges in reviving the economy but expressed confidence in the Mahama-Opoku Agyemang administration's ability to navigate these difficulties.
She also urged Mahama to hold government appointees accountable, citing the previous administration’s failure to act on corruption. Muslim noted that a win for the NPP would have been surprising given their poor performance during their tenure.
