Former President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to make the Hajj pilgrimage more accessible to Ghanaian Muslims if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wins the upcoming elections.

He promised to reduce Hajj fares in consultation with the Hajj Committee, making it easier for more Muslims to perform the pilgrimage.

Mahama also reflected on improvements made during his tenure, including the relocation of the Hajj Village near Kotoka International Airport (KIA). He reiterated the NDC’s 2020 manifesto commitment to replace temporary structures with permanent, modern facilities to enhance the experience for pilgrims.

However, Mahama criticized the current NPP government for allegedly selling the land where the Hajj Village is located. He vowed to address this and ensure proper development of the facility if the NDC returns to power.
