The Electoral Commission (EC) has resumed the collation process for the Ablekuma North constituency results at the Greater Accra Regional Collation Centre after tensions escalated.
National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters gathered outside, accusing attempts to undermine the electoral process, while candidates from the NDC and New Patriotic Party (NPP) clashed inside, each blaming the other for electoral manipulation.
The collation was initially suspended after results from 219 out of 281 polling stations were collated. The EC had also paused efforts to resolve nine unresolved parliamentary disputes across the country.
NDC’s former Deputy General Secretary Peter Otokunor confirmed the EC Chairperson’s intervention to resume the process, but confusion persists, with heated exchanges inside the centre.
Military personnel were deployed to support the police and maintain order as the situation develops.
