Chaos erupted at the Ayawaso Central collation center in Accra after unidentified men destroyed ballot boxes and papers from the just-ended general elections.
The incident occurred at the ATTC School, where results collation was underway.
Reports indicate that the group clashed with police, prompting Electoral Commission (EC) officials to flee with remaining ballot materials to safeguard them.
Security personnel initially faced challenges distinguishing accredited individuals from unaccredited residents, many claiming to protect the ballots.
Tensions peaked when some youth began vandalizing the boxes, forcing police to call for reinforcements. Additional officers have since been deployed to restore order and ensure the integrity of the collation process.
The incident underscores heightened tensions surrounding the election results.
