Haruna Appau Wiredu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, has been declared the Member of Parliament-elect for Fanteakwa North.
Returning Officer Zacharia Adams announced that Wiredu secured 11,138 votes, narrowly defeating the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Kwame Appiah Koduah, who garnered 10,847 votes.
A total of 581 ballots were rejected.
This marks the first time the NDC has won both the parliamentary and presidential elections in the traditionally NPP-dominated constituency.
Wiredu hailed the victory as a reflection of the people’s will, signaling a significant shift in voter preferences in Fanteakwa North.
The outcome highlights changing political dynamics in the constituency.
