Dennis Miracles Aboagye, spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's campaign team, has expressed shock over the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) resounding defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking to GHOne TV on December 13, 2024, Aboagye admitted he did not anticipate the significant margin by which the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won.
John Dramani Mahama, the NDC flagbearer, secured 56.55% of the votes (6,328,397), compared to Dr. Bawumia’s 41.61% (4,657,304).
Aboagye attributed the defeat to the NPP’s failure to adequately address the frustrations of Ghanaians, acknowledging the underestimation of their grievances.
The NPP also suffered significant parliamentary losses, with prominent members such as KT Hammond, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, and Henry Quartey losing their seats.
