Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman, Freddie Blay, has opened up about the party’s unexpected defeat in the 2024 general elections, describing it as a “knockout” that has left the party struggling to recover.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Mr. Blay admitted the loss came as a surprise despite the economic challenges faced during the campaign.
“I thought Ghanaians would understand the difficulties we were managing, but the defeat was mind-boggling,” he said. He acknowledged the party took some things for granted, which contributed to their loss, but remains optimistic about the future.
Blay emphasized the need for lessons to be learned, stating, “We’ll pick up the pieces and come back stronger.”
He reiterated the NPP’s commitment to reclaiming its place in Ghana’s political landscape.
