The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is forming a committee to investigate its poor performance in the recent elections, described as disastrous for the party.
This follows the Electoral Commission’s declaration of John Dramani Mahama as President-elect with 56.55% of the vote, defeating NPP’s Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who secured 41.61%.
Member of Parliament(MP) for Mpraeso, Davis Ansah Opoku, disclosed the initiative in an interview on Starr Today, emphasizing the need for a scientific assessment of the loss. He highlighted voter turnout issues, noting that over 2 million previous voters abstained in 2024, including 20,000 from his constituency.
The committee aims to identify accountability gaps, visibility challenges, and messaging flaws to prevent a repeat in 2028.
Opoku stressed that understanding and addressing these setbacks is crucial for the NPP’s recovery.
