Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to President-elect John Dramani Mahama, has described the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) victory in the 2024 elections as a clear rejection of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia’s leadership.
Mahama won with 56.55% of the votes, defeating Bawumia’s 41.61%, marking a strong comeback to power. Mogtari dismissed claims of voter apathy, emphasizing that the win was driven by public dissatisfaction with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
She highlighted the NDC’s historic performance, winning 13 out of 16 regions and nearly 190 parliamentary seats. Notably, the NDC made gains in the Ashanti Region and reduced the NPP's dominance in Bawumia’s North East stronghold.
“This victory reflects a strong call for change,” Mogtari concluded.
