President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has denounced pastors promoting religious intolerance by urging congregations to reject Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as a presidential candidate due to his Muslim faith.
Speaking to a passionate crowd, the President criticized such divisive rhetoric, emphasizing Ghana’s long-standing religious tolerance.
“Are Muslims not human beings? We want religious harmony, not division,” he stated, calling those sowing religious and ethnic discord “nation-wreckers.”
Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaians to reject such narratives and maintain the country’s reputation as a beacon of peace and stability in Africa.
He encouraged citizens to vote on Saturday, demonstrating Ghana’s commitment to unity and democratic values.
