Sammi Awuku, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate for Akuapim North, has secured victory in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
Awuku, also the Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), earned 28,365 votes, defeating John Evans Kumordzi of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who managed 14,217 votes.
Awuku’s win stands out in a challenging election for the NPP, which faced significant parliamentary seat losses.
Before the polls, Awuku had expressed confidence in the party's prospects under Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, predicting a strong showing in both parliamentary and presidential contests.
Awuku now takes over from Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, who lost her re-election bid in Okaikwei North. This victory marks a pivotal moment for Awuku in his political career.
