A tense exchange has erupted between Afenyo-Markin, Member of Parliament and Majority Leader of the 8th Parliament, and Stan Dogbe, a former presidential staffer, over comments about President-elect John Mahama.
Dogbe, in a social media post, labeled Afenyo-Markin a “boy” and accused him of disrespecting Mahama, sparking a sharp rebuttal. Afenyo-Markin refuted the allegations, claiming Dogbe’s remarks were an attempt to incite violence against him.
“I have not insulted the President-elect. I am simply urging your party to follow due process,” Afenyo-Markin stated, adding that Dogbe should refrain from addressing him disrespectfully.
He further called on John Mahama to intervene to prevent potential unrest, emphasizing, “The violence must stop now, in the interest of democracy.”
The clash has heightened concerns about post-election tensions.
