Former President John Mahama has accused Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of misleading Ghanaians about the Ghana Card’s role in international travel.
Speaking in the Ashanti Region, Mahama mocked Bawumia after reports that the Vice President faced delays while demonstrating the newly commissioned E-Gates at Kotoka International Airport.
He joked, “The digital gate didn’t open for the digital man,” implying flaws in Bawumia’s digitalization agenda.
The E-Gates, launched on December 3, use advanced technology to streamline immigration processes and allow Ghana Card holders quicker entry.
However, Mahama argues the system exposes weaknesses in Bawumia’s claims about Ghana’s digital transformation.
This debate adds fuel to growing political tensions as the 2024 elections approach.
