The aftermath of the December 7 elections has sparked reflection within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), with members analyzing the causes of their unexpected defeat.
Hon. Vincent Ekow Assafuah, MP for Old Tafo, has attributed the loss to unmet expectations among loyal supporters.
Speaking on Lawson TV, Assafuah highlighted the campaign efforts in Tafo, where over 40,000 t-shirts were distributed for a voter base of 34,000. However, he noted that the abundance of campaign paraphernalia created unforeseen challenges.
“The issue wasn’t our performance,” Assafuah said, “but the unmet expectations of long-time supporters who felt neglected despite their loyalty.”
While acknowledging the frustration, Assafuah expressed optimism, emphasizing the need to address grievances and restore trust among the party’s base to rebuild for the future.
