We’ll cut down imports and boost consumption of local rice and other products – Mahama

NDC Presidential Candidate John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to mandate all government agencies to buy locally-produced rice under a future NDC administration.

This initiative is part of his commitment to promote Made-in-Ghana products and reduce reliance on imports.

Criticizing the current government over reports of expired rice from India being served to SHS students, Mahama emphasized the need for policies that prioritize local production.

He highlighted that the government’s budget could be directed towards buying local goods like rice and oil, boosting economic growth.

During his Eastern Region tour, Mahama also pledged improvements in telecommunications, infrastructure, and access to clean water.

He assured that no state-owned assets, including those of the Volta River Authority, would be sold under his leadership. Mahama concluded the tour by urging Ghanaians to support the NDC's vision for self-reliance and sustainable development.
