Mahdi Jibril, Deputy Director of Elections for the NDC, revealed that the party’s request to hold its final rally at Independence Square was denied by state officials, citing it as inappropriate for political events.
He criticized the decision, noting that Aglow International, which he linked to the NPP, frequently uses the venue for gatherings.
Speaking on Rainbow Radio, Mr. Jibril explained that the NDC opted for Madina after the refusal and had announced their rally plans before the NPP scheduled theirs at Legon. He dismissed claims of proximity-related tension, asserting the NDC’s preparedness.
He accused Aglow of targeting the NDC with prayers when in power and aligning with the NPP. Jibril urged supporters to stay focused on the elections and ignore distractions.
