Dr. Okyere Ankrah, a University of Ghana lecturer, has called on the police to take decisive action against Oheneba Nana Asiedu, a Morning Show host on Wontumi Radio, Kumasi.
The radio host was arrested after a viral video showed him allegedly spreading false information about the 2024 elections.
Police charged him under Section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), which addresses the publication of false news.
Speaking on OKAY FM, Dr. Ankrah emphasized the need for strict enforcement of the law to deter others from disinformation during the election season.
"Disinformation is a dangerous canker. If he's punished, it will serve as a lesson to others who aim to mislead the public," Dr. Ankrah stated, urging authorities to handle the case thoroughly.
