You can’t lecture us on democracy – Asiedu Nketia tells “Micro-Minority” leader Afenyo-Markin

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has dismissed comments by New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus leader and Member of Parliament-elect for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, on the state of democracy and alleged electoral chaos.

At a press conference on Friday, December 13, Afenyo-Markin urged the NDC leadership to rein in supporters accused of causing unrest at collation centers, stating such actions harm democratic principles.

Responding, Asiedu Nketia criticized Afenyo-Markin, referring to him as "my junior brother" and questioning his authority on democracy.
"We in the National Democratic Congress don’t need lectures from Afenyo-Markin about democracy. If there were any lectures on impunity, we would invite him as our lecturer," he remarked.

He also advised Afenyo-Markin to focus on resolving internal challenges within the NPP rather than commenting on NDC matters.

Addressing allegations of violence and looting by some NDC supporters, Asiedu Nketia pledged thorough investigations into all reported incidents and vowed to uphold the rule of law under the incoming administration.

"Anyone abusing power in these three weeks before the handover must know there will be consequences," he warned, emphasizing the NDC's commitment to restoring trust in Ghana’s electoral processes.
