Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Mayor Samuel Pyne has denied allegations that the New Kejetia Market will be closed on Saturday, December 7, to force traders to vote in the general elections.
The claims, allegedly made by some traders, suggested that the closure was ordered following a request from NPP running mate Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh.
Speaking to Channel One News, Mayor Pyne dismissed the accusations as baseless and clarified that no such directive has been issued by his office or the Regional Security Council (REGSEC).
The Mayor also hinted at intelligence pointing to potential disruptions by some opposition NDC members but urged calm, assuring traders of normal market operations and heightened security on election day.
