Two young men have been confirmed dead following a violent clash in Nyinahin-Kasotie, Ashanti Region, between residents and a group of armed men who reportedly arrived to commit crimes.
Eyewitnesses stated that the armed group began stealing excavator parts and gold deposits on the morning of December 16.
Tensions escalated when local youth attempted to resist the theft, resulting in gunshots that killed two people and left five others critically injured.
The incident has sparked fear and protests in the town. Samuel Anyine, the Assembly Member for Kyekyewere Electoral Area, called for military deployment to restore order, highlighting the growing insecurity.
Traditional leaders are working to calm the community as the situation remains tense.
