Legal practitioner and Newsfile host, Samson Lardy Anyenini, has called on the Mahama administration to consider former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s blueprint in tackling illegal mining.
Speaking on Newsfile on Saturday, he emphasized that Bawumia’s plan offers practical solutions, including creating common facilities for small-scale miners to operate safely.
Bawumia’s policy, introduced during his 2024 presidential campaign, proposed eco-friendly mining technology, fiscal incentives for legal operations, and value addition to Ghana’s mineral resources.
Legal analyst Kofi Bentil also warned that the galamsey fight demands more than law enforcement, citing gold’s historical allure and deep-rooted economic implications.
The discussion underscores the urgency for sustainable solutions in Ghana’s mining sector.
