An Accra Human Rights Court has reduced the bail conditions for former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director-General Kwabena Adu Boahene, lowering his bail sum from GH¢120 million to GH¢80 million with two sureties, one to be justified.
His wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, remains on a GH¢80 million bail with two sureties to be justified.
Both must report to EOCO three times a week and are restricted from traveling without permission. The couple, accused of embezzling state funds, challenged the initial bail conditions as excessive.
Deputy Attorney-General Justice Srem Sai argued they were flight risks, while lead lawyer Samuel Atta Akyea insisted the conditions were unreasonable.
Adu Boahene allegedly diverted $7 million meant for a cyber defence contract into personal accounts, using some funds for real estate investments.
