President of policy think tank Imani Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has advised the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to remain focused on retrieving public funds allegedly misappropriated by members of the previous government.
He stressed the need for accountability and cautioned the NDC against distractions that could derail their efforts.
In a social media post, Cudjoe acknowledged that economic crimes linked to the former administration are extensive, with some cases being easily provable.
He emphasized that while accountability is crucial, the government must proceed carefully to ensure effective prosecution and recovery of state resources.
His comments come amid ongoing investigations into financial crimes allegedly committed under the previous government.
The Attorney General is expected to provide an update on the investigations and the findings of the ORAL Committee, which has been reviewing key financial documents.
Cudjoe urged the government to remain steadfast in its pursuit of justice, even if it takes several years to recover the country’s stolen funds. “We need our money, even if it takes five to six years in some cases,” he stated.
