Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Bernard Ahiafor, has accused the minority caucus of being disruptive during the January 31 vetting of ministerial nominees.

Speaking on February 5, Mr. Ahiafor described the minority's behavior as obstructive, making it challenging to maintain the pre-agreed proceedings.

He recounted how the vetting process unfolded, noting that last-minute instructions from the minority side, including requests for specific actions, contributed to the disruption.

The chaos led to damaged property, prompting Speaker Alban Bagbin to suspend four MPs and set up an investigative committee, headed by MP Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, to probe the incident and report back with findings.

This investigation seeks to determine the cause and responsibility for the breakdown in proceedings, aiming to ensure such incidents don’t repeat.
