The Ashanti Regional Security Task Force has reclaimed 10 acres of the Offinso shelter belt from illegal miners following a joint operation with the police and military.

Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene, who led the effort with Lands Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, reaffirmed his commitment to curbing illegal mining and restoring degraded lands.

As part of this agenda, the government will launch the ‘Tree for Life’ initiative to promote afforestation and responsible mining.

Dr. Amoakohene also outlined measures to resolve challenges at Kejetia Market and push for the completion of the Central Market project.

Additionally, he has ordered the removal of unauthorized structures in Kumasi to ease congestion, calling for public cooperation to restore order in the city.
