The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) has strongly condemned the violent disruptions that occurred in Parliament during the ministerial vetting process on January 30, which led to property damage and the suspension of proceedings.

The confrontations, which interrupted the vetting of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Foreign Affairs Minister-designate, and Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Health Minister-designate, were described by the CCG as undermining the rule of law and ethical governance.

The statement expressed concern over the negative impact such actions have on political discourse and called for a commitment to peaceful, lawful engagements.

While the CCG acknowledged parliamentary privileges, it stressed the importance of maintaining the dignity of public office and urged both parliamentary factions to prioritize consensus-building.

The Council also emphasized the collective responsibility of all Ghanaians in nation-building and urged adherence to democratic principles.
