The Ghana Coalition Against Galamsey (GCAG) has formally petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to investigate Aowin MP Oscar Ofori Larbi over alleged illegal mining activities in the Tano Anwia Forest Reserve.

The coalition is urging swift action, emphasizing that if the claims are proven, they would constitute serious breaches of Ghana’s mining and environmental laws.

Reports indicate widespread destruction of the forest reserve due to illegal mining.

The Aowin Traditional Council has also accused the MP of ignoring their concerns and called for intervention from the Lands Minister and NDC regional executives.

The coalition is urging law enforcement, environmental agencies, and the government to collaborate in halting the environmental damage and restoring public trust.
