Residents in Potrase, Osino, Kibi, Asikam, and Asiakwa are raising alarm over illegal mining (galamsey) activities allegedly linked to two former bodyguards of ex-President Akufo-Addo, Ofori-Panyin Fraizer and Eric Antwi.
According to the affected communities, these individuals operate with impunity, polluting rivers, destroying forests, and threatening livelihoods while boasting of their political connections.
They also accuse some officials from the Forestry Commission and the Environmental Protection Agency of complicity, particularly naming Dr. Jones Kumi Agyei for facilitating access to protected lands.
The environmental destruction has led to severe water contamination, deforestation, and health crises.
Desperate residents are appealing to President Mahama, security agencies, and the military to intervene before the situation worsens beyond control.
