The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has issued a directive ordering all individuals and entities engaged in illegal mining, both small- and large-scale, to cease operations immediately.

Expressing deep concern over the destruction of water bodies, the EPA warned that galamsey poses severe risks to the environment and public health.

Citing the Environmental Protection Act, the agency emphasized that all mining must adhere to regulations, including obtaining permits and adopting sustainable practices.

In collaboration with key institutions and security agencies, the EPA has outlined strict enforcement measures, including equipment seizures and intensified monitoring of mining sites.

The public has also been urged to report illegal mining activities as part of efforts to safeguard Ghana’s natural resources.
