A raid on illegal mining activities in the Atewa Range Forest Reserve in the Eastern Region has led to the burning of four excavators, according to journalist and anti-galamsey advocate Erastus Asare Donkor.
The operation, carried out by the Forestry Commission, aimed to deter further mining in forest reserves.
The burning of the excavators has sparked debate, as the current government previously criticized the Akufo-Addo administration for similar actions.
Some Ghanaians are questioning the policy shift, calling for a clear strategy to combat illegal mining.
Concerns also remain over reports of individuals linked to the government engaging in mining activities in protected areas like the Tano Anwia Forest Reserve.
