Galamsey: Declare state of emergency now – Miracles to govt

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, former Communications Director for Dr. Bawumia’s 2024 campaign, has urged the government to declare a state of emergency to combat illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

Speaking on Citi FM, he stressed the urgent need for decisive action as the destruction of lands and water bodies worsens.

Aboagye accused the NDC government of contradicting its earlier stance, recalling that President Mahama had criticized the previous administration’s approach of burning excavators and jailing illegal miners.

He questioned why the same measures were now being enforced despite past opposition.

His call adds to mounting pressure on the government to intensify efforts in tackling the galamsey crisis.
