Galamsey: Trial of Erastus Asare’s attackers adjourned to February 12

Award-winning journalist Erastus Asare Donkor from the Multimedia Group has confirmed that six suspects will face prosecution following a violent attack on him while investigating illegal mining at Asumenya in the Ashanti Region.

The incident, involving ten attackers, occurred on October 19 as Mr. Asare documented environmental destruction linked to Edelmetallum Mining Resources Limited.

Two suspects have been directly implicated in the assault.

The journalist also reported the theft of personal items, including drone batteries, ID cards, and other belongings, with no updates on their recovery.

Despite the ordeal's psychological impact, Mr. Asare vowed to continue his work, stressing the importance of restoring Ghana’s environment and fighting against illegal mining activities.

The case hearing resumes on February 12, 2025.
