Godfred Dame breaks silence on Ambulance Trial controversy

Former Attorney-General Godfred Dame has clarified his role in the controversial ambulance procurement trial, stating that his only conversation with businessman Richard Jakpa during the case was the secretly recorded phone call.

Addressing a press conference on February 14, Dame insisted his suggestion for Jakpa to obtain a medical report was purely based on health concerns, not an ulterior motive.

He dismissed claims that he pressured Jakpa for testimony against then-Minority Leader Dr. Ato Forson. Dame’s statement follows Attorney-General Dominic Ayine’s recent decision to discontinue the high-profile trial.

The case had sparked widespread public debate after Jakpa accused Dame of inappropriate contact, leading to calls for his resignation.
