Minority Members of Parliament (MPs) wore black attire with red armbands and headbands on Tuesday, February 4, in protest against the suspension of four MPs—three from their side and one from the Majority.
The NPP MPs participated in the fourth sitting of Parliament, using their attire as a symbolic expression of dissatisfaction.
Speaker Alban Bagbin had suspended Chief Whips Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor and Frank Annoh-Dompreh, along with Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli and Jerry Ahmed Shaib, for their roles in chaotic scenes during an Appointments Committee sitting.
While an investigative committee has been set up, the Minority insists the Speaker acted beyond parliamentary rules and is demanding a fair hearing for the affected MPs.
Meanwhile, Parliament has intensified security to prevent their entry.
