Security in Parliament has been heightened with a perimeter set up at the entrance of the chamber to prevent suspended Members of Parliament (MPs) from gaining access.
According to JoyNews parliamentary correspondent Kwaku Asante, the increased security measures were put in place ahead of Tuesday’s proceedings.
The move is not only aimed at blocking the suspended MPs but also restricting non-MPs from entering the chamber.
The development comes as the House prepares to decide on the approval of ministerial nominees vetted by the Appointments Committee.
The MPs in question were suspended by Speaker Alban Bagbin for two weeks due to their roles in the chaotic scenes that erupted during the committee’s proceedings on January 31.
